I’m super proud to announce that Webbuzz The Growth Marketing Agency was recently featured by the government as Australian SEO experts and a source of digital marketing advice for small and medium size enterprise (SMEs).

Webbuzz recently participated in the Small Business Digital Champions program, as a vendor. This is an initiative of the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources (DISER) to provide grants to promising entrepreneurs who want to improve or expand their digital presence.

As a result of being selected to design and build a new website for Perth exercise physiologist Heart Health and Fitness, Webbuzz director Darren Moffatt was filmed for 5 minute video of digital marketing and search engine optimisation (SEO) advice for small business owners.

“It was a real honour to work with Nikky and the Small Business Digital Champions program, ” said Darren.

“Search engine optimisation is such a big part of digital marketing these days, and it all starts with a good website.

“It was a privilege to share of some our SEO expertise with the Business.gov.au community.”

One of the topics that Darren addresses in the video is what business owners should look for in a provider of digital marketing services.

Whether the business is looking for a web developer to build a new website, or an agency to provide search engine optimisation, Darren recommends the business owner takes the time to properly brief the provider.

“In some respects the marketing services supplier is only as good as the instruction they receive.

“The more thought and effort that a business owner can put into the project brief, the more likely they are to receive a good outcome.

“Where expectations are unclear or ambiguous, problems can arise.”

I agree, and and would also add this tip: if a small business owner is unsure how to brief a web developer or SEO agency, getting several quotes from different sources is a free way to get some education on the process.

Good agencies will invest a fair amount of time in their proposals, and savvy business owners can use this to help refine and improve their brief to the winning agency.

It also makes good business sense to get a few competitive quotes, not just one.

Darren also raises the concept of ‘social proof’ in the video, and this is another way business owners can do their own due diligence on the web agency or freelancer they are considering for the project.

Put simply, check for the following:

  • Reviews and testimonials
  • Google My Business ratings
  • Accreditations
  • Guest videos and feature articles

If the web or SEO company has a decent spread of (mostly) positive social proof on Google and Facebook then they should be a pretty safe choice.
